About 20 years ago...

...in February, we were stationed in Hawaii.  We lived on Schofield Barracks in a 4 unit, row-type home.

Looking through photos, I came across...
these that were taken in Feb 1990...

Mr. B pulling a banana tree to the area leaf pick-up.  I don't remember why the banana tree was dying. There are so many beautiful flowers, bushes, and trees grow so easily there! Orchids, Birds of Paradise, Bougainvillea, plumerias, hibiscus, etc... all like wild flowers.

 Mr. B happened to be home from one of his many deployments or flying missions.

Our older daughter (Girly-Twirly, now aka "theLuckiestMrs.") was having fun blowing some bubbles.

This is our younger daughter (Girly-Whirly) blowing her bubbles :o) I'm sitting watching the fun and soaking in some sun. I was about 6 and 1/2 months pregnant with our son (Heartbreaker). (I'm either biting my lip or unconsciously "trying to help" blow bubbles with the girls. haha)
Thank goodness for photos! They really help when it comes to remembering special family times such as these.

I loved our 3 years in Hawaii.  For a number of reasons:
1. Mr. B's family live on the Big Island, so it was just a very short inter-island flight to visit them or have them visit us.
2. It was a blessing for my husband and all of us to spend time with my husband's dad before he passed away. His dad was able to see and love on all our children.
3. Our son (Heartbreaker) was born there...making him the 5th generation born in Hawaii on Mr. B's side.
4. I love the food, melting pot of cultures, gorgeous beaches, balmy tropical temperatures.
5. ...and of course, the sweet memories made there.
~~~~~~~~~
I have to include this photo of my handsome hubby... after all, during the 3 years we lived in Hawaii, he spent a total of a year out in the field or flying his blackhawk helicopter in other countries... This was taken in Korea...Dontcha love his tent decor? I think that it's sweet to see our girls' works of art...right up next to his helmet :o)
~~~~~~~~~
To go along with this military-inspired photo of my hubby, I am sharing the following. Here are some military-related drawings...

This one, Jamie ordered for her Marine Aviator.
Jamie sent me this email, when she received her drawing: "...I got it, thanks so much! It turned out great..."
****

This Chinook (CH-47) was ordered for another military aviator husband.

This is what Amber had to say: "...First I want to say, I think your art work is amazing! I first heard about it from a senior spouse at our FRG in March and thought about it ever since. ..."

And after she received her drawing: "...I got the package two days ago and just got a moment to open it and look at it.  (Hubby was being nosey lol) It looks amazing. You do great work. I will be using you again, sooner than later. Your work is so unique, it will be a gift that will be cherished. You asked about the packaging, and it was in great condition..."

***
This one is a C-12 and warrant insignia.
Deb ordered this after seeing displays at a show I was a part of in Alabama.

*****
This was a farewell gift ordered for a military spouse leaving a unit.
This was in Arlis's email: "... About five years ago you drew a picture of my husband's squadron patch and a gulfstream 5 airplane for me when he took command of the 310th Airlift Squadron at MacDill AFB.
At Andrews, the 89th AW Commander is leaving and we would like to see if you would be able to draw a design for his wife as a gift from the group commander spouses..."

*****
More farewell gifts for wives leaving another unit.
Kimberly has ordered many of these over the years, from these, as well as, of another logo/design. As a commander's wife, she has given these to the ladies leaving her group.

*****
 This one was given as a farewell gift also.

Thank you! All for your military service and also for the families who have shared in the responsibility and dedication of military life.

Blessings & Aloha!

Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I hopped over to your blog to return the visit and was amazed by your art! Oh how blessed you are--I can't draw a straight line! I loved your 20 years blog post, too. Those were simpler times, weren't they? How often I remember watching my own children blowing bubbles. Hawaii is someplace I've never been, but sure would love to see. I love all tropical plants and things--I just know I'd love the surroundings! Blessings and happy blogging! Kathy

Oh I love to look back at old pictures. We LOVED Hawaii! my 3 year old is still talking about it. She always says " Let's go back to Hawaii" just about every time I strap her in her car seat. Thanks for the heads up on exceeding my bandwidth with photobucket. I am working on fixing that as we speak. If you come back to my blog for a visit you may have to clear your cookies to view those photos. I have a few other Hawaii posts you might like.

Enjoying your blog and glad to know that you are a sister in Christ. Also would like to tell you how much we appreciate your husband's miliatry service (and that means you, too, because he wasn't the ONLY one in the military! :) You were right there with him. Love your work, too. Can you please tell me what an Etsy is? Silly me...

By the way... funny little thing, my hubby and I had that same exact brown furniture with the big flowers and wagon wheels when we first got married. We still talk about how ugly it was but how it was the best sofa we ever had to nap on. All these years later we are still kicking ourselves for getting rid of it! Ha.
